Woke up a bit early and went out and got some pics of the bay. Tide was still out. It was a chilly 50° morning but sunny and clear, with no wind. Had a plain cake donut and water for breakfast because that’s all there was.
We opted for secondary roads and not the Trans Canadian Hwy 1. We went towards The Bay of Fundy… basically the body of water between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Lots of trees for the last 7 days but now the forests were changing as it was mostly pine trees mixed with birch trees and a few other deciduous trees thrown in. Pines were much smaller than down south and not as full. Coming along the coast was not like the Pacific Coast Hwy in the States. We weren’t along the coast much at all. Close but mostly you parked and hiked out to the point. Got a few nice shots of the ocean. Weather was beautiful as it was clear and sunny with almost no wind. Around noon pulled off the sweater and opened up my vents.
I learned there is such a thing called Labrador time. You lose another hour so now we are 2 hrs ahead of Central Daylight time.
Around noon we pulled into a Tim Hortons and Mike was surprised that Darryl and I had never been to one. I ate 3 ham and egg English muffins. We rode the day away and as we left the coast we came to a broad valley where a lot of it looked as though it was left as natural wetlands.
Got to Moncton, NB and checked into the Amsterdam Inn. Unloaded and got everything charging. Left for Skipper Jack’s seafood. They were busy and we had to wait a while. By the time we got seated it was clearing out but we sat at our table a long time before anyone came to our table. Then we waited a long time for the food. Once it came the food it was very good. Mike had Fish and chips, Darryl skipped the salad again tonight and got a Buttered Lobster roll, Scott got Mussels, fried clams and probably something else. I ate seafood chowder. My first this trip, but won’t be the last.
Tomorrow we head to the ferry in Northeast Nova Scotia.
It was a good day.
