Nothing went wrong this morning!
Before I get into today I remembered something on our rain day yesterday. We circled around and went up… I believe 113 into the White Mountains National Forest. Beautiful 1.5 lane black top. Wet with a few leaves!😮💨
But it was basically miles of riding through a green tunnel. I really wanted my GoPro on but I don’t run it in the rain. The Forest was in places, heavy thick growth of pine… reminded us of Hansel and Gretel type Forest. Very dark and foreboding. Then it would turn into deciduous Forest and up in the higher elevations some color was showing. All I could think was that Loraine would have loved it and I need to get her up here on the Goldwing.
Today we got out at 8 am and it was 64° and sunny. Very windy all day though. Was never hot as it got to around 75 for a high and windy. We went down to Acadia NP and went up to Cadillac Mountain and looked over the sea. Now I have seen lots of ocean while in the Navy and riding along a lot of coast lines. What was different today was that the wind had plenty of waves which were hard to see as we were up high… but because of that the sun had a muted sheen on the water. I have never seen that before from that vantage pointso high above the water. Wind was really strong up there too. I saw an 82 yr old lady and her daughter struggling to get up a large step and went to help. They succeeded just as I got there. She apologized for being in the way. I told her… No need to apologize as you’re my hero! You’re out here still seeing the sights! She then said… I am 82 and still going but it is tougher. I replied… keep up the fight and enjoy!
Then we rode down the mountain and started heading north for Lubec, Maine. Most eastern town/point in the USA. We had to go there. What made it kinda special was that I met Scott coming down from Alaska in 23. We went to the most Northern and Western point in the lower 48 states and now today we were together to be at the most Eastern point. While at Lubec the tide was going out and as you get nearer the poles of the world the tides get much stronger and severe. We got there as it was going out and wow was it going fast and strong. Couldn’t imagine trying to motor in against that. You would be at full throttle and never get anywhere.
They also had a memorial for fishermen who had been lost at see. Quite a long list and it was sized with plenty of blank granite for more names in the future. Makes me think and appreciate the people who make sure I have seafood available when I want it.
We gassed up before we left the States as it is cheaper than Canada. Not much traffic up here. We are in St Andrew’s right on the bay this evening. Tide is still out and I am sitting out on the hotel balcony looking over a dark sea. A few dock lights and further out a red blinking light. No sound either.
I finally got to a hotel where I can upload my videos and will try to make some short videos. For now below are the pics of the day.
We ate ate Mason’s Brewing Company in Machias Maine today. If by chance you ever roll through there make sure to stop by for a burger.
Also, Yesterday evening the “I’m not a salad guy” got another salad for dinner. He broke his streak today as no salad was consumed by him today.
Bikes are running well and I am really happy with the MotoZ Tractionator GPS set of tires I put on. I think we are near 1500 miles so far from Mike’s house and they still look new. They handle well and did great in the wet and dry. I know they do good in 3 or 4″ mud as I ran into that in Alaska going over the Brooks Mountain Range in the rain.

Here is an extra from our Moab trip. Trevor Brasch, Rich Feagin, Mike Cox, Jared Smith and me taking the shots. These were the easy spots after going through the stuff I couldn’t stop on to get photos.
