Nova Scotia Day 5
Not much to say about today.
Woke up to rain and took our time as it was supposed to quit by 8 am. It did for 20 minutes.
I don’t know what it is about the mornings on this trip. Each morning it seems to be something… bad battery, next morning… bad battery and this morning I walk out and see Mike’s bike tipped over with Mike looking surprised. He looks up and asked me to help him pick it up. I told him… Just a second! I turn around and go back in the motel room to get my phone. Take a pic and then helped him lift it up. He laughed and admitted he would have done the same thing!
Off we went and the rain came back and was a steady soft rain all day. If it had to rain this was about the best outcome we could have had.
Loraine’s been telling me that I need to get a new suit. I believe she is right! I now know where the leaks are! By both under arms. My boots are nearly 10yrs old. My left foot was WET and the right was maybe damp. New suit will be ordered soon and this winter I can send my boots to the manufacturer in Bavaria for refurbishment at about a 3rd of the cost of new. Around 11 am we stopped for brunch as Darryl was in the lead and smelled food and pulled into this restaurant. We are now in Maine and they had Lobster Benedict. I should have asked what the cost was. They were OK, tated like Lobster as they had a small strip of Lobster on them with diced fried potatoes on the side. $27 when the bill came. I would have been happy with the Meat lovers omelet for $14. Mike and Scott said it was good.. While eating we decided to remove a 150 mile side jaunt to a lake as it was raining and you couldn’t see much in the distance. This got us to the hotel at 3:36.
We were damp and a bit chilled as it was only 60°. Walked into our room and turned the HEAT on and put our gloves and Mike’s boots on the air outlet to dry. I just came up with the idea to put the hotel hair dryer in my boot and put it on low. It’s working!
We got into our swim trunks and hit the jacuzzi. Wow, it was hot. We both agreed that it was the most powerful jacuzzi we had been in. Just the thing after 7 hrs in the rain and the cold. We alternated between jumping in the pool and getting chilled to back in the jacuzzi several times. Rejuvenated we ordered food. Darryl and Scott got an Uber and headed out to some nice restaurant. We just ate in via Grub Hub… and I went across the street to get my favorite Subway sandwich. Now kicking back and watching the Redskins and Eagles play as I wait for the Dallas/Giants game to start.
Hopefully nothing will go wrong tomorrow morning. It’s supposed to be sunny for around 5 to 8 days now… but we all know how that can change!
