Well, I was going to stay in my garage and work on my 2015 Goldwing. Then Mike J. said he was coming down to my house (from 300 miles north of me) and then continue on down to the Moonshine Luncheon in Casey, IL 250 miles south of me. I had been trying to figure out if I wanted to go. Things kept getting in the way of me doing the maintenance on the Wing and it was supposed to rain on Friday which was the day we were going to leave. I was almost done with the Wing maintenance and only needed one more day to finish. Then Mike texted .e and said I am leaving today as it is sunny (was 30°F in upper Wisconsin when he left). I had to make a decision within the next 4 hrs.
Before he got to my house I was about to put the left fork together and I noticed the new cartridge bolt I had just bought from Honda was shorter than the one I took out. I knew I had the correct stock bolt as was the one who looked up the Honda part number. The right fork bolt is longer and I was wondering if Traxxion accidentally swapped them or because of their kit both sides of the fork needed a longer bolt. I sent an email to Dan at Traxxion and then almost immediately after that I told Loraine. Honey, I’m going with Mike. I can’t move forward right now on the Wing so I’m outa here. She said… ok, have fun.
It never warmed up much as the high temperature of the day was only 64. That may sound warm but when you are riding down the Interstate at 75 mph for over an hr it will suck the heat right out of you. You have to dress for success! It turned out to be a nice ride though. Sunny, although there was a stiff wind out of the SE it wasn’t rattling me around and best of all… not a lot of traffic. We ran Interstate almost all the way. Rain very possible tomorrow but we may ride over to Metropolis (small IL town across from Paducah, KY. Around 250 miles away via the route I had planned) I guess they have a Superman statue that Mike wants to see. With nothing else to do we may go as long as it isn’t raining real bad. Tomorrow is another day… who knows what it will bring.
A RTE (ride to eat) can get quite popular. People will gather for a day or two to eat and see new people. So.e have a prize for the person who traveled the furthest. I have heard of people riding well over 1000 miles to attend and then go home again. Just another excuse to ride!
