Was up until 3 am posting as Scott and I are both talkers and we enjoy each others company. He turned out the light around 12 and I recapped the day. Up by 0730 and helped Scott carry his bags down to his bike. He has to make time today to get to San Jose, CA. I decided to stay in Crescent City for another night. I came out to St George Point and am enjoying the warm sun on my shoulders. Almost no wind today so walking over the headlands it was silent until just about to the cliffs then just a gentle wave action came to your ears. If I had a chair and a book this would be great! When I travel I always meet new friends and I have made some connections this time that I believe will go the distance.
Travel plans have changed again!
Tomorrow I will head to Redding on a deviously winding back route a friend who lives in Redding sent me. Visit an evening with him and then head towards the coast again on those wonderfully winding Northern California roads then follow hwy 1 PCH down until I am close to Santa Rosa then head inland and visit with family for an evening. Then head across the hot central valley and get up in the Sierra Nevada mountains and head north to hwy 89 and go through Lassens volcanic Park. Wanted to pass through there since the 80’s. Then start working East and try to keep to higher, cooler elevations.
Left the Point and headed for a back gravel road… but it was fairly busy as it led to a Grove of big redwoods. Gopro was running while I walked through the Grove and while riding the road and I will post those and more when I get home and learn how to edit.
Came back to the hotel and relaxed. In times past on trips I come to a point where I know when it’s time to go home. It’s time. Loraine always says that I am a horse that runs hard for the barn but I will still follow the path already set but I will not be lolly gagging along. If I had a comfortable custom seat then this bike could easily be 1000 mile a day bike.
