Scott got up and out to the BMW dealer and they got him in by 0837 and I checked out of the room. Value Inn in Eugene Oregon. Decent place. Went to the BMW dealer and saw their bikes and came across a 2020 Tenere ES model. Barely recognized it as it was bone stock. They had a 2020 NC750XD DCT model with a few goodies on it. Decent price. He volunteered to go lower if I was serious about it. All their bikes had new improved prices. Dropped by $1000. Demand may be starting to soften. We were out of there by 11:30 and we went to “Ye Old Pancake House” pretty good breakfast. We ate and headedback out to the coast. Within a few miles of the coast the temp dropped 12° and stayed around 68 to 71 all afternoon and the strong wind was at our backs! Overcast had gone awayvand it was sunny. Perfect! Traffic wasn’t to bad at all either. Scott stopped at the Umpqua Lighthouse. Coast Guard has a station there. It was the first Lighthouse on the Oregon coast. They had a whale watching station there. ( oh, I saw a whale spout yesterday. Several times before the whale disappeared). We had a fun time in the gift shop ordering clam chowder. Scott got a nice sticker for his bike. Oh, I think I will get that… you can’t as this was the last one! Josie checked… yep, no more! So, I was looking around and found a nice one for the Lighthouse but wanted one for US 101 Oregon. I was about to buy it when the lady goes… wait a minute and then disappeared for a minute or two. She came back… how’s this one? Perfect, that is exactly what I really wanted! Scott looks at it… That’s what I really wanted too. You have another one? Nope, just that one as it was a sample. I told Scott he could have it for double the price! He didn’t want it that bad. We found out that dunes run for miles along the Oregon coast and it was the start of Dunes nationals or something. They were expecting 11,000 people there by the end of the day. All hotels and campgrounds will be filled for miles. So we left. Stopping to look at the coast and rocks.
We stopped at two barber shops and they were booked. We were in Port Orford, Oregon. Scott saw this word painted on the stree by a light we were stopped at… VIEW with an arrow. It went up a steep hill. Scott said… I am going up there! I followed up and it was steep and then you crested the hill and there was a huge bay, rocks in it with white caps on the waves and it was very blue as there were no clouds. I topped the hill and bam it was there and I couldn’t help myself… Oh Wow! Came out of me. We stayed there just looking for quite a while. Then we looked for a restaurant that some people two towns up told us to go too. We didn’t find it because of Scott’s detour for the view. We found “The Dive Bar and Grill” $3 Street tacos. I ordered 1 shrimp taco and a steak burrito. Scott ordered 3 tacos. He got 4 but 3 steak and a shrimp. Not what he ordered. He was going to give me the shrimp taco. I just looked at the girl… can I just have my own taco. So he got an extra and my taco came out… it was the best shrimp taco I had ever eaten! If I hadn’t ordered the burrito I would have had more. Burrito was big and good too. We left stuffed so we walked across the street to walk down to the beach. Wasn’t so windy down there. I video called Loraine and was showing her the scenery. It was a scene straight out of the Jetsons! Video calling on a device with no cord attached… how far we have come from when I was a teenager and we had 1 phone with a long cord.
Beautiful day with beautiful scenery. There are more rock formations the closer you get to the California Stateline. Unfortunately we were within 37 miles when the sun went down and the Temps dropped as well. Down into the upper 50’s. I stopped to put on a jacket liner and warmer gloves. Scott said good, I will too. He said he was going to try and tough out the next 40 miles but why???
We missed the best of them MIlES OF COASTLINE. We still got to see a lot though. At one of the places we stopped I looked out… Hey, I think that is a whale spout… then 9 or 10 more put up a plume! Then we see a few miles further south more spouts from the same vantage point . I always wondered how the old sailors spotted them. We were high up and at least several miles away and could see them plainly. We counted over 10 spouts at once.
On we went winding down the coast and riding and we rode the sun out of the sky. We really had no traffic to speak of. We will be parting ways tomorrow as he continues south and I start winding my way east. No reason for me to go through the blast oven in the south! I will head east and north.
It was a good day to be traveling. Maverick likes rocks and I found a few that were cool so I picked them up.

I was walking around like this recording with my GoPro and some lady asked me where my Jetpack was. Without hesitation… back on my Motorcycle.
