Two days ago kept my sister company while she ran errands and I bought a new sleeping pad. Those things have gone up in price. Went and saw some old friends and visited over dinner. Then came back to my sister’s house and they were watching a movie. Afterwards I stayed up and watched the third Guardian’s of the Galaxy.
Then up at 0600 and ot the door by 7 am. Not a lot of traffic on a Saturday… that’s a first around the Seattle area! 30 minutes later I am looking for signs to say motorcycles don’t have to wait in line at the Edmond/Kingston ferry. Done se any and the line looks fairly short(20 minutes) so I sit in it. I see several MC going by but not sure where they are going so I stay put. Get to the booth. This your first time? Yes. Next time just bypass the line as MC don’t wait. You can purchase a ticket up by the Ferry. Ok, thanks! $9.50 later and I’m going to the ferry.
At my sister’s it was sunny but it was foggy on the water but soon we broke out of the fog and we could see around a bit. 6.7 mile ferry ride and it took 26 minutes. Well worth it as I didn’t have to go through all that traffic around the south end of Puget Sound.
Went up 104 to 101 and headed for Cape Flattery the most Northwest point in the lower 48. Mostly sunny and comfortable I went off on 112 and missed going by Crescent Lake. I was told it was pretty but I wanted the coast and the road looked like it twisted more. Thoroughly enjoyed the road even though it went up and down a lot. I could have slowed down but why as I have good suspension. I knew Scott was out there ahead of me somewhere. If we met up we were going to go down the coast together for a while. I oull into Neah Bay get gas and start to head out and I see Scott getting ready to pull out from side street. He was heading back to the gas station to buy a permit to go out to the point. So I turned around and got one too. Saw the point and then we went down to the Olympic National Park rain forest visitor center. Walked on the Hall of Moss 1.2 mile trail. I took video of the whole walk and will post it up once I get home. We had to wait in a line of cars for over an hour. I went up to the front on my bike up the exit lane and the ranger asked… Why did you cut the line? I haven’t. I have a buddy holding our place in line. Oh… then what do you want? I would like to know if you have MC parking and if I have to wait as many places do have MC parking. No, we don’t have any. Ok, thanks. I motor back and wait. We get up to the parking lot eventually and see a spot close up where a car cannot park and we park there and not in a park spot. So I guess there is an extra space. Some women was walking back along the line of cars muttering about Welcome to the United States. She was not happy. The parking lot was full and cars were parked along the road. So go early and expect to wait. We got back on 101 south and it was getting to be 7 pm and dusk. I started seeing a good amount of Elk grazing along the road! Uh oh! I sped up and got in front and put my brights on and slowed down and kept my eyes peeled. We eventually got into Aberdeen, WA after dark. I can recommend the Gray’s Harbor Inn and Suites motel if you want a decent bed and pillow. But if you want cold water in the sink and all the lights to work or need a few hangers or the outlet by the beds to work … then you’d best find another place. We’re heading out today but not sure where to as Scott needs to see a BMW dealer on Tuesday for his 500 mile service and there is one in Florence. So we are in no hurry.
