Day 20 Seattle 28 miles

Wow, a good night’s sleep and I got 7 hrs sleep. Lazy morning… my sister made us breakfast and we toured her new house and grounds. She has a lot of construction plans ahead of her… but she is learning about Washington state mentality and permitting. She said they can’t do anything with a permit and then it takes a long time to aquire said permit. This ain’t Iowa! In Iowa they wouldn’t have bothered to even get permits for what they want to do.
We hopped on the bikes and the bike died twice and stuttered once on the way down. We got the coil packs but they couldn’t put them in. I said I can do it out in the parking lot. We went out and had one side done in minutes but the other side we had to remove two crashbar bolts and I was able to flex it out of the way enough to slide the coil out and replace it. I get it all back together and we are all happy. Get on the road and ½ mile down the road the bike quits. Scott’s done with this and wants to get rid of this bike. Want ride over to the Honda shop down the road and get an African Twin? No… so he is trading it in for a new GSA Ralley. This is why even though I think the BMW is a nice bike and would even like to have one to experience it but… I just can’t take that plunge. Way to many horror stories of break downs and BMW not backingtheir product. Honda and Yamaha are at the top of the reliability lists and BMW is on the bottom or the second from the bottom. My Yamaha doesn’t get the nice fuel mileage but it gets me there and back and that’s what’s important. They didn’t give him a good trade in value as they know it has a major problem. That is expected. I guessed $10,000 but it needs a 12,000 mile service so… $9,200. Ouch! List is $25,000 and it has 14,000 miles on it and it’s a 2021 model but he will be on a reliable(?) bike and hopefully no worries! He wants his gold rims so they will swap wheels tomorrow.

I just learned that he will have to pay for the rim swap. I had to say something… what? He is giving you brand new tires and rims and you’re charging him? That isn’t part of the deal? He’s paying list price???
