For some reason I am waking up after only 5 to 6 hrs of sleep. Beds have been comfortable too. The Greenview Inn is small but the beds were very comfortable.
Woke up at 5 am and said… no way! Finally fell back to sleep for almost an hr. We got up and made it over to the Pacific Grill for breakfast and we were not disappointed. Jeff got the special. French toast, bacon and eggs. I couldn’t believe the bacon! 4 slices and very meaty and large. If that’s regular Canadian Bacon then we are getting ripped off in the States! I had a very good omelet and hash browns.
It was a beautiful morning and it seemed as if some of the smoke had gone.
It was 49° at 6 pm but by 9 it was high 50’s and no wind. Forecast said it was going up into the 90’s today. A 40° swing. We headed out and got on 33. The scenery is beautiful. I love the mountains and valleys with rivers and lake. These are not the huge mountains to the west. Big but not towering. The passes are around 5,000’. Hwy 33 is smooth with a lot of sweeping turns with a few sharper ones to keep you on your toes. I have the GoPro going now and I stop every hr to swap out for a charged battery. I was in the back putting along at 63 mph and stopped to change a battery out and put carmex on my lips as they are starting to chap. I got back on the road to catch the group. Got the bike comfortable cruising along at 70 to 75 and started hitting these sweeping turns at speed. Ahhhhhh, much better! Then I got to play with the gears coming into and out of those sharper corners. I was wondering how close I was to scraping the bags as the are square and not angled. I finally caught them coming down off a mountain as they came into Kelowna.
This Super Tenere keeps on impressing me as I learn more about it and it’s capabilities. For an adventure bike this thing turns into a corner effortlessly and holds the line with confidence. I don’t even worry about it. Some of that has to do with MotoZ Tractionator GPS tires. They do make some noise as they are a 50/50 tire. (50%road/50% dirt) but they just stick in the corners. I have about 3000 miles on them and they are not showing a lot of wear. I was impressed with the MotoZ Tractionator Adventure tires and I am just as impressed with these GPS tires. I am not even going to look at or try anything else. That’s how much I love them.
The Temp did climb but so did we and we were comfortable at 80 to 85. But there were times we descended down to towns and we saw mid 90’s.
I always thought that BC would be greener and cooler. Not the part I was in today. Hot and dry.
The locals said it was very dry this year. Ok, but Sage doesn’t move in in a yr. Further west or east in the really big mountains maybe it is wetter. You’ll be cruising along and you come around a mountain and a big valley will open up with grass / hay being cropped and a river or big beautiful lake thrown in the scene. Lots of pine trees and even with my stuffy nose I can smell them.
It was amazing that we had this brown dried grass all around then we moved up through a narrow valley and it seemed to be greener. Mike even mentioned it. It stayed greener and then the mountains went a way for a while and there were a lot of marsh/wetlands. Then back to hills and cattle country. These lakes are gorgeous and it would be nice if I could take one back home. It’s all pretty up here.
Coming into the hotel Dick dumped his bike and possibly dislocated his right shoulder. He said he was in 2nd gear and should have been in 1st as he turned up the hill he hit a small pothole and he gave it gas and it died. For a bike with no crash bars it came out well. Dick did not. Luckily the hospital is only 3 minutes away. The hospital was pretty empty and he had to wait then got x-rayed and at 8 pm he had to wait and he still hasn’t been seen! Almost three hrs…
We only went 375 miles today as we got a late start and traffic was bad in Kelowna probably took an hr to get through the city. My butt wanted to get off the bike at the end of the day. I hate stock seats and before next summer a custom seat will be on it! This adventure bike with a good seat and the suspension upgrades I have done to it will turn it into an all day cruising machine. 5 or 600 mile days will not be a problem.
Depending on how Dick feels in the morning will dictate what we do. He just got back and nothing was dislocated. Just strained tendons and ligaments.
